This waterfall, in Las Trampas, looks very different now. No water flows over the cliff in this typical dry, dusty California autumn.
In the winter though, the waterfall gushes and flows wonderfully. Looking forward to the rains!

To find this incredible area, a difficult scramble up a muddy canyon is required. The trailhead is at the end of Camille Avenue in Alamo. Take the trail up past the cow gate and then veer to the left at the big fork. Follow this trail into the canyon and hike upstream as far as you wish. But be careful - mudslides, rockfalls, and steep slippery slopes abound. Not to mention poison oak and cougars.
It is, however, one of the most ethereal spots in the Bay Area.
